champlain canal/Hudson river delivery opportunity
Join us for the trip of a lifetime!
We will be moving a boat from Charlotte VT to Liberty Landing Marina in NJ. (XYachts 119 - see sistership here) This not to miss trip is a trip through history. Pass through Whitehall (birthplace of the US Navy), see West Point from the water, learn how to go through man made locks, step a mast in historic Catskill Creek and if all stars align sail around the Statue of Liberty on arrival!
What this trip is:
Working trip. You will help with the getting the mast down then back up, you will stand watch and practice navigation and boat handling under motor.
Camping style - bring a sleeping bag and pillow and warm and dry clothes. There are very few amenities along the way.
5 days under motor - this is not a sailing trip. We will be on a sailboat but the river does not really afford a lot of sailing opportunities. If all stars align and things go well we will hoist sails in NY Harbor and do some sailing around the Statue of Liberty etc.
What this trip is NOT:
Catered tourist experience. Nourishment is largely grab and go style while underway onboard. Canned foods and sandwiches. We may eat out 2-3 nights depending on where we end up anchoring along the way.
Luxury: We will be on a 39’ converted race boat. So accommodations are spartan at best.
Cost and Schedule:
Cost: $1200 per person + return flight/train/bus. Off boat meals not included.
Dates: May 21-May 25 +/- (weather permitting), +1 additional work day between May 8 and May 12 to help in preparing the boat for departure.
